The Atenea Institute (Instituto de Atenea) is a Panamanian school founded in 2002. It is the only private institute in Panama offering courses of Greek language and with close links to Greece. The vision of the founder Mr. Charalambos Tzanetatos and the mission of the school is to foster and offer opportunities that help the students experience first-hand the Greek language and culture.
It has become a tradition to have a yearly visit of the graduating class of the Lyceum of the Instituto de Atenea. This year, the Embassy of Panama in Greece organized visits for a group of 44 graduating students and their chaperons to universities in Athens. In collaboration with the Odysseus and Athena Organization, the group visited the National Technical University of Athens where they had a warm reception from Mr. Marinos Kavouras, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Administration, Mr. Dimitrios Kaliampakos, Dean of the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering, and Mrs. Maria Perraki in charge of the “Gai-Orama” Mineralogy and Petrology Museum. Mrs. Perraki also gave an engaging presentation of the “Gai-Orama” Museum.
