VIII INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL OF PANAMA / DEDICATED TO THE RIGHT TO WATER

 

From July 27 to August 2, 2024, the VII International Human Rights Film Festival of Panama will be held, with the aim of disseminating and rewarding films that show and promote issues related to Human Rights. The festival is also known as BannabáFest, from the Guna word "bannabá", which means "beyond".

 

The Festival calls for competitions in the Fiction, Documentary and Student Short categories, of any length and genre, and invites filmmakers and students from all over the world to submit films released between January 1, 2022 and the closing of this call, 31 May 2024 at 5pm. In this edition, humanity's right to water will be highlighted.

 

The BannabáFest is organized by the CIMAS Foundation. It is a free community event, with venues throughout the country. In addition to the regular programming, there will be workshops, talks, galas of the GerontoFest and BannabáFem sections and a tribute to three pioneers of Panamanian cinema.

 

The winning films will receive awards in four categories.

  1. Bannabá Award for Best Documentary.
  2. Bannabá Award for Best Fiction.
  3. Ricardo J. Alfaro Award for Best Student Short Film.
  4. Bannabá Award for Best Panamanian Film.
