PANAMA ADVOCATES FOR SOLIDARITY BETWEEN GOVERNMENTS TO URGENTLY ADDRESS CREW CHANGES WHILE BENEFITING ALL SEAFARERS

Our nation, through the implementation of these Protocols, has facilitated crew changes and repatriations, benefiting to date some 8,268 people, including passengers and crew, of more than 50 different nationalities, covering all types of ships and yachts, also in the same period of time 1,787 seafarers have embarked. We show our solidarity by providing timely humanitarian assistance to the "Zaandam" and "Rotterdam" cruises, by transferring their passengers and crew, they were also provided with supplies, medicines, medical equipment and their transit through the Panama Canal was coordinated, avoiding a greater tragedy. We recognize that several countries support crew changes, but this is not enough. It is time for us to act together urgently and responsibly to allow crew changes, if there are no crew changes, shipping stops and the consequences will no longer be only for seafarers, but also for the rest of the world and its economy.

PANAMÁ ABOGA POR LA SOLIDARIDAD ENTRE LOS GOBIERNOS PARA AFRONTAR CON URGENCIA LOS CAMBIOS DE TRIPULACIÓN Y BENEFICIAR A TODA LA GENTE DE MAR

Nuestra nación, a través de la implementación de estos Protocolos, ha facilitado los cambios de tripulación y las repatriaciones, beneficiando hasta la fecha a unas 8 mil 268 personas entre pasajeros y tripulantes, de más de 50 nacionalidades distintas, cubriendo todo tipo de buques y yates, también en el mismo período de tiempo se han embarcado 1,787 marinos. Demostramos nuestra solidaridad al brindar una oportuna asistencia humanitaria a los cruceros “Zaandam” y “Rotterdam”, al trasladar a sus pasajeros y tripulantes, además se les suministraron insumos, medicinas, equipo médico y se coordinó su tránsito por el Canal de Panamá, evitando una tragedia mayor. Reconocemos que varios países apoyan los cambios de tripulación, pero esto no es suficiente. Es hora de que actuemos juntos de manera urgente y responsable para permitir los cambios de tripulación, si no hay cambios de tripulación, el transporte marítimo se detiene y las consecuencias ya no serán solo para la gente de mar, sino también para el resto del mundo y su economía.
