PANAMA, THE FIRST COUNTRY IN THE REGION TO HAVE ITS COVID DIGITAL CERTIFICATE RECOGNIZED IN EUROPE

After a thorough review process of the characteristics of Panama's Covid-19 Digital Vaccination Certificate, the authorities of the European Union have given the go-ahead for its homologation, with which, those who have a vaccination certificate duly issued by the Innovation Authority of the panamanian Government (AIG), having complied with their complete vaccination schedule, may present it to travel to the member countries of the European Union, as it will be recognized as equivalent. This joint work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the Innovation Authority of the panamanian Government and the team of the Ministry of Health, responds to the efforts of this administration to maintain the standards that the country has established for the safeguarding of the panamanuian citizens.

"Once again, our country evidences its leadership, through the recognition of the digitalization of the vaccination certificate. We are the first country in the region to have this endorsement, allowing our vaccinated citizens and residents, with full vaccination scheme, to have the peace of mind to resume their travels to Europe with the facilities offered by technology", said Chancellor Erika Mouynes.

The European Union recently presented a procedure by which third world countries could participate in a procedure, by invitation, in which Panama was included, so that its COVID-19 vaccination certificates would be as valid as the certificate issued by the EU to allow mobility through its member countries.

The Certificate may be used in the 27 member states of the European Union. Likewise, Panama will proceed with the recognition of the vaccination certificate issued by the European Union and its member countries.
